Chiropractic care assists children with cerebral palsy with a number of musculoskeletal complaints, nervous system conditions and pain management. We support in decreasing spasticity, motor weakness, impaired sensory perception, and muscle and joint contractures. Early intervention can contribute to reducing spinal changes such as lower back pain, pelvic obliquity, scoliosis and increased lumbar lordosis, therefore potentially facilitating children to reach their full potential.
Even though individually they are rare, collectively many people are living with rare diseases. Sadly, globally, 95% of rare diseases have no registered treatment available and intervention is on the basis of managing the symptoms only.
Although rare and genetic diseases, and many times the symptoms, are uncommon to most doctors, rare diseases as a whole represent a large medical challenge.
There are approximately 7 000 different types of rare diseases and disorders, with more being discovered each day. 30% of children with rare diseases will not live to see their 5th birthday. Approximately 50% of rare diseases do not have a disease specific foundation supporting or researching their rare diseases. Chiropractic treatments not only keep our special patients comfortable physically, but they also help with common problems like excessive crying, sleep disorders, symptoms of reflux and constipation, symmetry and alignment issues – and they morally support all those affected too.
